“Álbuns de Guerra” (War Albums) is an artistic creation about the Colonial War, based on the images and memories shared by women from the Ave Valley who, over the 24 months of military service of their boyfriends, fiancés or husbands, kept their relationships alive by sending photographs, aerograms and letters. Combining the fictional and documentary character of the testimonies, with the material presence of the preserved correspondence, these women are invited to reinterpret their memories and narratives of the Colonial War, imagining other stories, in addition to their personal experiences. More than the men who went to war, the main focus is the women who remained at home and whose young loves offer the guiding thread for another history, that is more private and sensorial, about this global conflict.
