Created in 1981, “May B” is considered to be a masterpiece in the history of contemporary dance. The play is based on texts and characters
by Samuel Beckett, who yearn for stillness but must keep moving. “May B” was the work of French choreographer, Maguy Marin, who confronted the Irish playwright’s resistance to having his plays adapted. The work founded a rare discourse and moment because it managed to give Samuel Beckett’s words the body that he had been seeking for so long. Not only did Beckett approve the project, he invited her to meet him to discuss the work, making “May B” a unique and timeless creation.

A peça é baseada em textos e personagens de Samuel Beckett, que anseiam por quietude, mas não conseguem deixar de se mover. Fundadora de um discurso e momento raros por ter conseguido dar às palavras de Samuel Beckett o corpo que há tanto tempo procurava, “May B” foi uma conquista da coreógrafa francesa Maguy Marin face à resistência do dramaturgo irlandês em aceitar que as suas peças fossem adaptadas. Ele não só aprovou o projeto, como também a convidou para se encontrarem e discuti-lo, tornando “May B” numa criação única e intemporal.
